The Beginning

Dear Readers,

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in a want of a wife.”
While certainly an overused introduction, especially as pertains to single females, Jane Austen’s opening line from every spinster's favorite novel, Pride and Prejudice, is no less poignant now than it was over one hundred years ago.
However, after a countless number of interactions with our respective families, friends, and complete strangers, we have come to realize that the quote should read as follows:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman must be in NEED of a single man (who is hopefully in possession of a good fortune)."
It would appear – to every “happily” partnered individual – that being single is a shame and that every single woman must desire a boyfriend. The poor unfortunates (single women) couldn’t possibly be anything but miserable, desperate, lonely, and certainly creatures to pity.
We are here to prove that misconception wrong.
While we certainly do want that great relationship that so many of our friends boast of, we have yet to find it.
Here we are. Two lovely, witty, educated, driven women almost in our mid twenties.  With all of these amazing qualities, it may be a surprise to you that we have been single for our entire lives.  Seriously.  Neither of us has been in a committed relationship in our 20+ years of life.
We swear to you, we are completely normal!
However, because of the lack of any substantial love life, we have both faced daily, unsolicited commentary from friends, family, strangers, and even the 70-year-old woman who lives down the lane.
In order to put a bright spin on what could otherwise be an incredibly depressing topic, we will take you into the life of the ridiculous experiences we encounter when inviting the attention of the opposite sex; and in most circumstances, when we are NOT inviting said attentions.
One thing we have learned throughout our many single lady escapades, is that it's not that easy!  The only way to get through it is to laugh at yourself and the situations you find yourself in.
And so we present to you this blog that will serve as a documentary of our day-to-day experiences.
Enjoy!
